A good couple Weeks of Community, Connection, and the lead up to Cape Town Marathon

As we close the chapter on the Running Late Club & Totalsports Home of Running Series 2026, we're left reflecting on what was an unforgettable few weeks of movement, community, and shared experiences in the lead up to the Cape Town Marathon.

What started as a simple build-up to race day quickly became so much more.

Over the course of the series, many athletes came together week after week to prepare for the Cape Town Marathon. Although, many who were not running the marathon also joined in for all the fun & action. What we love about the series, is that although it’s an exciting lead up to CTM, it’s also just a great moment as the excitement collectively grows with every run.

This year's journey felt particularly special.

For the first time, the Cape Town Marathon moved from its traditional October slot to May as part of its continued pursuit of becoming Africa's first Abbott World Marathon Major. The date change created a unique build-up and brought a renewed sense of anticipation to the city's running community. The excitement surrounding the event was impossible to ignore, and we were proud to play a small role in helping athletes prepare for such a significant moment in African running history.

One of the highlights of the Home of Running Series was welcoming a different running brand into the community each week.

From Salomon, Saucony, HOKA, ASICS, Adidas, and then New Balance, every partner brought their own energy, expertise, products, and personality to the experience. Athletes had the opportunity to test footwear, learn from brand representatives, engage with the latest innovations in running, and enjoy a variety of unexpected surprises along the way.

And there were plenty of surprises.

From spontaneous giveaways and product drops to exclusive prizes and athlete spoils, every week offered something new. The excitement wasn't just about what participants could win, but about the shared moments that unfolded when an entire community came together around a common passion.

At its heart, however, the Home of Running Series was never about shoes, prizes, or race preparation alone. It was about the people.

To our partners at Totalsports, thank you for believing in the vision and helping bring this incredible series to life. Your commitment to growing the running community continues to make a meaningful impact, and we are grateful to have shared this journey with you.

To Salomon, Saucony, ASICS, HOKA, Adidas, and New Balance, thank you for adding colour, energy, expertise, and excitement to every stop along the way. Your support elevated the experience for every athlete who joined us.

To all the brands who contributed prizes, giveaways, and spoils throughout the series, thank you for making every kilometre a little sweeter (Falke Socks, Aquelle Viv, Red Bull, Standard Coffee & Bootleggers)...

And finally, to every athlete who attended a run, whether it was your first session or your eighteenth, thank you. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for bringing your energy. Thank you for embracing the adventure and helping create the atmosphere that makes this community so special.

The Home of Running Series may be over, but the memories, friendships, and momentum we've built together will carry far beyond race day.

Until the next start line. See you on the run...
